Neo's tips on weight-loss :Liposuction

What is LIPOSUCTION?
-------------------------------------
Liposuction is a procedure that can help shape the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. It is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedure the world over. After the age of 18years, the total number of fat cells in the body does not increase as fat cells neither regenerate nor multiply .As the person gains weight; the fat cells increase in size due to depositon of fat in the cells. They decrease in size as the patient loses weight and the fat is mobilized out.. During liposuction, fat cells are suctioned out along with the fat and are removed permanently. Therefore, the results of liposuction can be permanent.

Before going into Liposuction Techniques just watch a tutorial video

Liposuction Techniques
---------------------------------------
The most preferred traditional technique:-Tumescent Liposuction

The word "tumescent" means swollen and firm. By injecting a large volume of very dilute lidocaine (local anesthetic) and epinephrine (capillary constrictor) into subcutaneous fat, the targeted tissue becomes swollen and firm, or tumescent. The tumescent technique provides local anesthesia to large volumes of subcutaneous fat and thus permits liposuction totally by local anesthesia. The tumescent technique eliminates both the need for general anesthesia and need for narcotics and sedatives. The tumescent technique for liposuction 1) provides local anesthesia, 2) constricts capillaries and prevents surgical blood loss 3) provides fluid to the body by subcutaneous injection so that no IV fluids are needed. This method is considered as the safest one due to low blood loss and local anesthesia.

Laser assisted Liposuction Techniques
---------------------------------------------------------
Laser assisted liposuction may involve either of two technologies,
Erchonia Neira 4L laser Technology and SmartLipo Technology.
The Erchonia Neira 4L laser produces a low-level,or cold, output that has no thermal effect on the body's tissue. According to Erchonia, this technology is in use at a handful of cosmetic plastic surgery practices in the US. Specifically calibrated to destabilize or liquefy the fat, without affecting surrounding tissue, the patient feels neither heat nor sensation from the laser's application. The cosmetic surgeon then uses a small cannula to remove the destabilized fat cells. According to Erchonia, the liquefaction of the fat cells allows for a substantially less invasive procedure, with less trauma to surrounding tissue.
Laser assisted liposuction may also refer to a laser technology, known in US as SmartLipo, that employs a cannula tipped with a diode laser emitter.A small cannula threaded and tipped with a 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser fiber is inserted through a small incision. It delivers energy directly to subcutaneous fat cells-causing them to rupture. The emitted fat melting energy also coagulates surrounding tissue, thus inducing collagen retraction and tissue tightening. The surgeon monitors cannula placement by following a visible red light that shines through the skin and tissue. This is from a “guide” optical fibre in the cannula. Typically, when SmartLipo is used, fat is not removed by a suction device, but rather, dissipates through the body’s natural processes. Laser assisted liposuction of either type is considered to be minimally invasive when compared to traditional liposuction techniques.
Risks in Liposuction
--------------------------------------
Infection or Drug reactions
The formation of fat clots or blood clots, which can loosen and move to the lungs ( leading to pulmonary embolism)
Too much fluid loss, leading to shock and potentially death
Fluid accumulation Nerve damage that causes numbness or changes in sensation Swelling that lasts for several weeks or months after the procedure
Rippling or indentation under the skin if the doctor removes too much fat
Scarring

Neo on hair-transplant

Hey guys!! Its time to move over baldness,go for hair-transplant
Have a look at a hair-transplant surgery in this video

Have a look into some Hair-Transplant cases and see the difference

The Procedure for Hair-Transplanting
----------------------------------------------
Usually during the initial consultation, the surgeon analyzes the patient's scalp, discusses his preferences and expectations, and advises him/her on the best approach (e.g.,single vs. multiple sessions) and what results might reasonably be expected.
For several days prior to surgery the patient refrains from using any medicines, or alcohol, which might result in intraoperative bleeding and resultant poor "take" of the grafts.

Hair-Transplant Surgery
----------------------------
Transplant operations are performed on an outpatient basis, with mild sedation and injected topical anesthesia, and typically last about four hours. The scalp is shampooed and then treated with an antibacterial chemical prior to the donor scalp being harvested.
In the usual procedure, the surgeon harvests a strip of skin from the posterior scalp, in an area of good hair growth. The excised strip is about 1-1.5 x 15-30 cm in size. While he is closing the resulting wound, assistants begin to dissect individual follicular unit grafts from the strip. Working with binocular microscopes, they take great care to remove excess fibrous and fatty tissue without damaging the vital follicular cells that will produce the patients' first crop of new hair.
The surgeon then uses a fine needle to puncture the sites for receiving the grafts, placing them in a predetermined density and pattern, and angling the wounds in a consistent fashion to promote a realistic hair pattern.
Laser Hair Transplant
--------------------------
Laser hair restoration was seen to have much potential in solving the graft compression problem associated with mini-grafts and micro-grafts. As a laser hair transplant procedure, it used laser beam to vaporize a narrow slot in the scalp for the implanting hair graft. By actually removing tissue, it was thought that laser hair transplant would reduce the risk of graft compression, and produce more natural results.
The first laser hair transplant procedure was performed by Dr. Unger and David in 1992 using the carbon dioxide laser. It was thought that laser hair restoration would lead to more natural hair restoration results due to consistent recipient channel depths produced by uniformly vaporized tissue. The proponents of laser hair transplant surgery had no doubts in its capability to transplant hundreds of grafts together to dramatically reduce the time of a hair transplant surgery due to increased homeostasis.

Cost of Hair-Transplant Surgery
---------------------------------------
Hair transplant costs around $4000 on an average.
The cost of the surgery varies with the transplanting centers.
